The Heritage and Legacy

The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, founded in 1119 following the First Crusade, maintained a significant presence in the Levant for nearly two centuries. The order reached its zenith after the Council of Troyes in 1129, where they received official papal recognition. This collection draws inspiration from the historical transition of the order from their humble origins at the Temple Mount to their role as the primary financial and military institution of the Middle Ages, culminating in the tragic dissolution ordered by King Philip IV of France in 1312.

Each ornament incorporates the iconic red cross pattee, a symbol officially adopted in 1147 by Pope Eugenius III. The color palette utilizes muted stone grays and deep crimson, reflecting the monastic austerity of the order. The inclusion of horses, lions, and liturgical texts serves as a visual record of the dual identity held by these knights: the martial prowess required for the defense of the Kingdom of Jerusalem and the contemplative life dictated by the Latin Rule.

Care and Longevity Guide

Maintain the integrity of the resin figures by storing them in the original compartmentalized foam tray during the off-season. Use a dry, soft-bristled brush to remove dust accumulation from the intricate crevices of the armor and weaponry. Avoid chemical solvents or abrasive cleaners, as these will degrade the protective enamel coating. If a surface smudge occurs, a lightly dampened microfiber cloth is sufficient for removal.

These ornaments are balanced for display on standard pine or fir branches. For optimal visual impact, position the figures in a spiral pattern around the tree, alternating between the mounted cavalry pieces and the stationary infantry figures. The weight of the cold-cast resin ensures stability, though placement on thicker, inner-branch sections is recommended to prevent drooping of the needles.

Protective Film Removal (For Flat Acrylic Option): To ensure your high-gloss acrylic items survive manufacturing and friction during transit without micro-scratches, the glossy side of every flat piece is shipped with a factory-sealed transparent protective membrane. You must physically peel off this thin anti-scratch film before displaying the pieces to reveal their true, highly polished reflective surface.
