The Heritage and Legacy

Hasbro launched the “Friendship is Magic” iteration of the My Little Pony franchise in October 2010, fundamentally changing the brand’s trajectory. Developed by Lauren Faust, the series gained a massive following, leading to this specific collector edition. The board maps out key locations from the show, including Canterlot and the Crystal Empire, mirroring the geographical progression seen throughout the nine-season run that concluded in October 2019. By utilizing the Monopoly framework, this set honors the long-standing tradition of themed board games that began in the 1930s, adapting the iconic Atlantic City layout to the magical geography of Ponyville.

The aesthetic choices reflect the vibrant color palette synonymous with the series. The tokens represent iconic items from the show, such as the Element of Magic spellbook and the royal tiara, grounding the fantasy elements in physical, weighted metal. The currency, referred to as “Bits,” replaces the traditional Monopoly dollars, maintaining thematic consistency with the show’s economy. Every graphic element on the board serves as a nod to the character-driven narrative that defined the 2010s animation era.

Care and Longevity Guide

Maintain the integrity of the game board by storing it in a cool, dry environment to prevent warping of the cardstock. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause the vibrant inks to fade over time. Clean the zinc alloy tokens with a soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove oils from handling; do not use abrasive chemical cleaners, as these will damage the metallic finish. If the board surface accumulates dust, use a lightly dampened cloth, followed immediately by a dry cloth to ensure no moisture remains in the seams.

For the best experience, place the board on a flat, stable surface to ensure the tokens remain upright. The game components are designed for repeated use, but keeping the cards in their designated slots within the box prevents creasing and edge wear. Proper organization after each session preserves the structural quality of the internal tray and the longevity of the game pieces.
