The Story Behind

Released in 1977, Smokey and the Bandit became a cultural phenomenon, fueled by the chemistry between Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, and Jackie Gleason. Directed by Hal Needham, the film transformed the Pontiac Trans Am into an American icon, sparking a massive surge in sales and cementing the “Bandit” persona in the public consciousness. The production relied on real stunt work and genuine Southern charm, creating a raw, authentic energy that modern CGI cannot replicate. This collection honors the 1977-2027 half-century milestone, documenting the journey from Texarkana to Atlanta and back again.

The imagery featured on the outer casing depicts the famous bridge jump, a sequence that remains etched in the minds of every fan who grew up watching the Trans Am outrun the law. Holding these ornaments provides a tangible connection to the film’s spirit of rebellion and freedom. The selection includes the iconic Coors beer trailer, the CB radio setup, and the various iterations of the Bandit’s ride, ensuring that the tension of the chase remains present long after the film credits roll. It is a physical manifestation of the open road, designed for those who appreciate the grit and glory of 70s automotive cinema.

Care and Maintenance Guide

To maintain the integrity of the resin figures and metal ornaments, keep them away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity. Dust the pieces gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid using chemical cleaners or abrasive solvents, as these will degrade the specialized paint applications and the protective matte finish. For the display box, store it in a cool, dry environment to prevent warping of the internal cardboard dividers. If an ornament requires deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth with distilled water, followed immediately by a thorough drying with a lint-free towel.

The ornaments possess a substantial, weighted feel, ensuring they hang securely on display branches or sit firmly on a shelf. The resin components are impact-resistant but should be handled with care to prevent chipping of fine details like the CB microphone or the Trans Am’s hood decal. Each piece is balanced for stability, reflecting the rugged quality required of items meant to last another fifty years. Treat these items as functional art, and they will retain their visual impact for generations of fans to come.
