The Heritage and Legacy
The game board maps the evolution of Bowie’s persona, beginning with his roots in Brixton and moving through the transformative eras of Ziggy Stardust and the Berlin Trilogy. By utilizing the 1977-1979 period in West Berlin as a high-value property tier, the game highlights the creative output during his collaboration with Brian Eno. The board layout mirrors the chronological progression of his artistic output, allowing participants to acquire rights to albums such as Hunky Dory and Let’s Dance, effectively simulating the business side of a career that redefined rock and roll.
Design elements incorporate the signature lightning bolt motif from the Aladdin Sane cover, photographed by Brian Duffy in 1973. The color palette utilizes deep space blues and vibrant reds to reflect the visual aesthetic of the 1972 Ziggy Stardust tour. Each token represents a specific era or symbol of his career, providing a tangible connection to the costumes and instruments used during his most significant live performances, including the 1983 Serious Moonlight Tour.
Care and Longevity Guide
Maintain the integrity of the game board by storing it in a climate-controlled environment, away from direct sunlight to prevent ink fading on the vibrant graphics. Use a dry, lint-free microfiber cloth to remove dust from the surface. Avoid liquid cleaners or solvents, as these will damage the protective UV coating applied to the board and cards. Ensure all resin tokens are returned to their designated compartments to prevent scratching or paint transfer between pieces.
The playing surface is designed for flat, stable tabletops. Avoid placing the board on uneven surfaces to prevent warping of the heavy-duty cardstock. When not in use, keep the box horizontal to maintain the structural shape of the internal tray. Proper handling of the custom currency and event cards ensures the longevity of the paper components, preserving the set for future play sessions.
