First Look at the Much-Awaited Tron Sequel, The Grid Awakens
At Disney’s D23 Expo, the first official trailer for Tron: Ares was finally shown to fans, fifteen years after Tron: Legacy’s release. A spectacular return to the Grid is promised in the video, which is full of neon-lit sights, furious light cycle chases, and a pounding Nine Inch Nails soundtrack.
An AI and Humanity Story
A plot that explores the modern topics of AI and big tech is hinted at in the teaser. Ares, played by Jared Leto, is a Grid software that travels to the actual world in pursuit of “permanence.” In the meantime, Julian Dillinger, played by Evan Peters, cautions of the possible risks associated with Ares’ arrival.
Legends returning and fresh faces
Alongside Leto, Greta Lee, and Evan Peters, Jeff Bridges, the original Tron actor, makes a comeback as Kevin Flynn. While Peters plays Julian Dillinger, whose name has a history of controversy within the Grid, Lee plays Eve Kim, a bright programmer who aids Ares in entering the real world.
An Extended Journey to the Grid
The Tron franchise, which got its start in 1982 with the ground-breaking first movie, has three installments total, starting with Tron: Ares. 2010 saw the release of Tron: Legacy, which increased the franchise’s visual extravaganza but garnered conflicting reviews.
There has been a long and winding journey leading to Tron: Ares. The movie was postponed after it was first announced in 2015. Under Joachim Rønning’s supervision, the picture was eventually completed after multiple director changes and strike delays.
A Positive Prospect for Tron
Tron: Ares is looking like it will be an exciting addition to the well-liked franchise thanks to its amazing visuals, captivating story, and skilled cast. With the amount of excitement the teaser has created, fans are eagerly anticipating the debut of the movie.
It’s the Grid calling. Are you prepared to go back? The release date of Tron: Ares in theaters is December 19, 2025.
